About the Author

Our in-house author Brian McClung built and launched this website in 2000. It is a pleasure to introduce the author of our books:
Belly River's Famous Joe Cosley
Hook for Good, Hooked for Life: The Passion for Fishing Belly River
Hiking Bear Country

Brian was born to Roxie and Owen McClung on November 8, 1940. One of five children he grew up in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. Glacier and Waterton National Parks were the playground of his youth. When not in school, he worked in his Dad's construction company building highways and bridges.

Brian's first overnight hike into Belly River Lakes (a remote area of Glacier National Park) took place when he was eight years old. Brian writes about his Rite of Passage in
his book "Hooked for Good". This trek was the beginning of many adventures into Glacier and Waterton National Parks. "Rite of Passage" was chosen by Glacier National Park's Centennial Committee to be featured in their Centennial Commemorative Book "One Hundred Years, One Hundred Stories, a View into Glacier National Park".

Brian married his sweet Marie in 1965 and they have one son who is married. Forty-five years later, they have a millionaire family with a grandson and a granddaughter.

Just has Owen taught Brian, Brian has taught his son, construction skills, how to fish, hunt, Bear Safety, and to respect and love the great outdoors. He now enjoys teaching these skills to his grandchildren.

Back tracking to 1968, Brian's writing career began in collage while he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Communications. He went on to earn a Masters Degree in 1970. His minors included Industrial Arts, Marketing and Journalism.

Putting his education to good use, Brian's work history includes teaching collage, co-owner of Fanfare Advertising who was the most successful Official Licensee of the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, Alberta Canada. His manufacturing experience, graphic art, writing, PR and marketing skills greatly contributed to this success. The highlight of this experience was marketing Official Olympic Buttons in Calgary and along the Torch Relay Route across Canada.

In 1990, Brian and Marie sold their business and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where his writing career began in earnest. In addition to the outdoor books featured on this website, Brian has written over fifty biographies for private clients. He has also designed and taught classes on "How to Write Your Personal, Family and Corporate History in Six Weeks".

We are happy to announce that our Glacier National Park Centennial Limited Edition of Belly River's Famous Joe Cosley proved to be very popular and is now sold out!
